BRAID members participate in a variety of formal and informal activities throughout the year focused on sharing information and best practices. These activities include:
- Quarterly BRAID Workshops
- The BRAID Annual Conference
- Custom Learning Sessions
- Student Mentoring/Project Work
- Attending Haas Design Thinking Courses
- Smaller Coffee and Lunch Gatherings
Speakers at previous/upcoming events include Berkeley Professor Ken Goldberg, Kleiner Perkins Design Partner John Maeda, and Former Clorox and Chief Innovation Officer Wayne Delker. Members typically interact with speakers in casual and intimate sessions.
Many members also use BRAID to recruit new team members from Berkeley, provide training and continuing educational opportunities for staff, and to keep current on innovation tools, models, and trends through networking opportunities with other members and Berkeley faculty.
The highlight for many BRAID members is participating in the annual mid-program academic retreat (MPAR), held in Napa. Members offer up a pressing innovation challenge to several MBA student teams, who spend a month conducting insight-generating research and reframing the issue. Members then spend a weekend with faculty, mentoring the students and turning these insights into actionable and innovative recommendations.
